Freesia School April 2016 Newsletter Update

Highlight of the month was the graduation day celebration on April 24th with a total of 17 kids graduating from K5 level on April 24th from Freesia school.  It was a great day watching the tiny tots receive their ‘Kindergarten Diplomas’ in front of their parents!  The day started off with a welcome dance by the After School Program (ASP) children followed by lighting of the lamp by the Founder of BB, James Ambat, Founder of ABC, Troy Swanson, local funding partner, Mrs. Preeti Rawal and Project Manager of ABC, Meena Gupta in the presence of many guests and parents.

Children were overjoyed to receive diploma certificates and certificates for special achievements!  Both the K5 and ASP children performed dances on stage for some very popular item numbers.

Academics

K5 children learned the multiplication tables for numbers 1, 2, 3, 5, and 10.  They learned to write numbers from 1 to 100 and number names for numbers 1 to 20.  Also, they learned about ascending and descending order of numbers.

In English language they revised previously learned diagraphs, high frequency words, tricky words, CVC words in preparation for the assessment.

In Social Sciences they learned about Air and its importance and revised on the topic of modes of transportations previously learned.

Both K4 and K3 children reviewed previously learned topics for exam preparations

Physical Education

Children are encouraged to play in our outdoor playground.  Every day, 15 minutes of physical activity is included in the schedule. This month too, children played outdoors whenever weather permitted.

Nutrition

Well balanced nutritious meals were prepared and served every day.  Children were served with breakfast and lunch on all working days.  A total of 2,356 meals were served for our children

After School Program (ASP)

With a total of 15 students of grades 1 and 2 the ASP program is going very well.  This program helps the students in the evening with their homework which they bring back from their respective schools.  This program is a supportive program which assists our previous graduates to keep up with their school work.  This month the program ran for 14 days with a total attendance of 188 children.

Visitors

Troy Swanson, Founder ABC visited the school in April.  He was elated to see the children progress well in academics.

Graduation Day Celebrations

A total of 150 people came to celebrate the graduation of the 17 children from K5 class at Freesia school.  It was a successful day of celebrations for all.
