Children’s Day Celebration & Thank You to Donors
Relive the Children’s Day celebratory fun & gifts received by students of AlphaBet Club Edelweiss, Freesia and all Building Blocks Schools in Bangalore.
Children’s Day is celebrated on the 14th of November in India and is the birthday of the first Prime Minister of independent India, as he was known for the deep affection he held for children and his belief that children and youth were the future of the country and education would help them achieve anything they dream of.
AlphaBet Club’s partner in India – Building Blocks, celebrated Children’s Day on Saturday, the 9th of November, combining it with another big occasion – the 9th year anniversary of the organization.
Days of preparation went in to making this big day a huge success. All the six schools performed many dances and the audience loved every bit of it! The 6 year old Edelweiss School- ASP (After School Program) students were also invited for this celebration and they performed for everyone as well.
We are grateful to the management of Primus School, as they very kindly let us use their auditorium and school grounds for the celebration and lunch, also a special thanks to the Leela Palace for the delicious lunch they provided to all children and guests.
The day began with the lighting of the lamp, James, founder of Building Blocks and all the Center Heads of all six schools lit the lamp and then the fabulous performances started. All the children were excited and performed with great vigour and enthusiasm.
The celebration ended with gift distribution to all the children. Gifts were sponsored by the AlphaBet Club and ABC Partner Noble Cause Club. Building Blocks received 500 Euros from the AlphaBet Club, that in addition to funds from Noble Cause Club and online fundraising campaign, made it possible that each of the 700 children received a magic slate, a pencil case with pencils and eraser, a smiley ball and a small globe. The K5 children – the 5 year old children got school bags as well, which would be useful for them after they graduate and go on to first grade in a different school.
Special Thank you to all ABCers that made “Optional Donations” when they purchased tickets online for ABC Events in Amsterdam… your funds donated went to these children receiving gifts on Children’s Day.
We hope you enjoy the pictures of our big celebration –
